Compared to HRPO (hot rolled pickled and oiled) steel, ASTM A1008 cold rolled steel provides higher precision, better surface finish, and improved consistency for applications like stamping, laser cutting, and painting. With superior formability, weldability, and mechanical strength, A1008 is ideal for applications requiring excellent surface quality, including automotive body panels, home appliance casings, and structural components. Multiple grade options are available, including ASTM A1008 CS Type B (deep drawing quality), DC01–DC04 (JIS/EU hardness equivalents), and equivalents to legacy ASTM A366 as well as Chinese GB standards Q235 and Q345.
