ASTM A516 is a pressure vessel steel plate designed for use in welded pressure vessels operating at moderate or low temperatures. Available in four grades – 55, 60, 65, and 70 – A516 steel can be supplied in either as-rolled or normalized conditions. Plates thinner than 1.5 inches are usually provided in the as-rolled condition, while thicker plates are delivered in the normalized state.
