Carbon steel tube & pipe

Carbon Steel Pipes & Tubes

Carbon steel pipe is made from carbon steel, with properties adjusted by varying carbon content and manufacturing techniques. It is classified into seamless and welded types, commonly used for transporting fluids like liquids, gases, and oils, as well as in structural and mechanical applications.

ZhaojianSteel offers a full selection of seamless and welded carbon steel pipes and tubes, ensuring dependable quality, competitive prices, and quick delivery to support your fabrication, structural, or fluid system needs.

Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes vs Welded Carbon Steel Pipes

Seamless pipes are made from a solid billet without a weld seam, offering greater strength and pressure resistance. Welded pipes are created by rolling and welding steel plates or strips, providing cost-effective solutions for less demanding applications.

Comparison Aspect Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes Welded Carbon Steel Pipes
Manufacturing Process Made from a solid steel billet without welding Formed by rolling steel and welding the seam
Strength & Durability Higher pressure and temperature resistance Strong and reliable, best for lower pressure uses
Surface Quality & Precision Smooth interior and exterior, tighter tolerances May have weld seams, surface less smooth
Cost Generally more expensive due to complex manufacturing More budget-friendly option
Typical Applications High-pressure systems, oil & gas pipelines, heavy-duty parts Water transport, structural supports, low-pressure systems
Availability & Customization Available in various sizes and grades, suited for critical projects Available in many sizes, flexible for general uses

Grades of Carbon Steel Pipe

● General Basic Grades
Grade A Carbon Steel: Minimum yield strength ≥ 30,000 psi; conforms to ASTM A53 and API 5L PSL1; used for low-pressure fluid transport or structural piping.
Grade B Carbon Steel: Minimum yield strength ≥ 35,000 psi, tensile strength ≥ 60,000 psi; conforms to ASTM A53/A106 and API 5L PSL1/PSL2; highly versatile, suitable for medium-pressure transport and general industrial piping.

● API 5L Line Pipe Grades
X42 to X70: Yield strength ranges from 42,000 to 70,000 psi (increasing progressively), with corresponding tensile strength increases; conforms to API 5L PSL1/PSL2; primarily used for long-distance, high-pressure oil and gas pipelines.

● ASTM A252 Piling Pipe Grades
The ASTM A252 standard is specifically for construction piling applications, divided into three grades according to strength requirements for different load conditions:
Grade 1, 2, 3: Progressive increase in yield strength; suitable for foundations, bridge piles, and other structural piling scenarios.

● Supplementary Standards
ASTM A53
Includes Grade A and Grade B.
Suitable for ambient temperature and medium- to low-pressure fluid transport, such as water and steam.

ASTM A106
Includes Grade B and Grade C .
Key feature: better high-temperature performance than A53, suitable for transporting high-temperature steam, hot oil, and other high-temperature fluids.
