Corrugated Galvanised Steel Sheet

Corrugated Galvanised Steel Sheet

Corrugated galvanised steel sheets are metal panels made through cold rolling followed by hot-dip galvanizing, featuring a regular corrugated surface. They offer excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and weather durability. Compared to traditional roofing materials like asphalt shingles or color-coated steel sheets, corrugated galvanised sheets are lighter, easier to install, more durable, and require less maintenance. They are also environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable.

The corrugated design promotes efficient water drainage, helping to prevent rainwater buildup and debris accumulation. This product is widely used in industrial buildings, agricultural sheds, warehouses, carports, and for residential roofs and walls. It is also suitable for new houses, garden pergolas, garages, and other lightweight structures.

ZHAOJIAN provides a variety of corrugated galvanised roofing sheets with thicknesses ranging from 0.4mm to 1.0mm, an effective cover width of 990mm, and custom lengths from 0.5m to 12m. Surface finishes include galvanised, color-coated, or PVC film options to meet different construction needs.

More Details

Key Benefits

  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Galvanised zinc coating protects the steel core from rust, even in harsh or wet environments.
  • High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Suitable for structural roofing, especially in high-wind or snow-prone regions.
  • Customisable Lengths & Coatings: Choose from up to 12 colours and three coatings, including PVC Plastisol (for maximum lifespan) and Polyester Paint (for colour-rich visual appeal).
  • Fast Water Drainage & Structural Integrity: Corrugated profiles allow water to drain efficiently, reducing ponding and leak risks.
  • Wide Effective Coverage: Each sheet offers an effective cover of 990mm, reducing the number of panels required per roof.
  • Flexible Pitch Compatibility: Can be installed on roof pitches as low as 10 degrees, offering flexibility in design.

Recommended Coatings

  • PVC Plastisol Coating: Best for longevity and resistance to scratches and UV damage.
  • Polyester Paint Coating: Great for aesthetic variation and longer life than plain galvanised steel.
  • Plain Galvanised Finish: Most economical for temporary or purely functional structures.

Typical Applications

Corrugated galvanised steel sheets are commonly used in:

  • Agricultural barns and cattle sheds
  • Lean-to and canopy covers
  • Storage and garden sheds
  • Garages and workshops
  • Pergolas and greenhouses
  • Conservatories and modern residential builds

Installation Guidelines

Overlap: At least two corrugations are recommended for weatherproof performance.

Pitch: Install at a minimum pitch of 10° for effective rainwater drainage.

Key Steps in Manufacturing Process

  • Cold-Rolling the Steel Base

High-quality low-carbon steel coils are cold-rolled to the desired thickness (e.g., 0.5 mm or 0.7 mm), enhancing flatness, tensile strength, and surface uniformity.

  • Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanising

The steel strip is passed through a bath of molten zinc at controlled temperatures. Our fully automated line guarantees uniform zinc coating adhesion (Z120–Z275g/m²), which resists corrosion and prolongs the sheet’s lifespan.

  • Chromate Passivation & Skin Pass

After galvanising, the sheet surface is treated with chromate passivation to improve corrosion resistance and paint adhesion. A light skin-pass rolling gives the sheet a smoother finish and enhances paintability.

  • High-Precision Corrugation Profiling

Using advanced roll-forming equipment, the sheet is pressed into a consistent wave pattern (e.g., sinusoidal or trapezoidal). This corrugation dramatically increases sheet rigidity without adding weight.

  • Optional Organic Coating Application

For enhanced durability and aesthetics, we apply Polyester Paint or PVC Plastisol coatings in a variety of colours. These coatings are cured in a high-temperature oven to ensure proper bonding and resistance to peeling or fading.

  • Custom Cutting and Quality Control

Sheets are cut to the requested lengths (up to 7m) with minimal edge burring. Each batch undergoes a multi-point inspection for coating thickness, adhesion, wave depth, and dimensional accuracy.
