Galvanized Seamless Pipe

Galvanized Seamless Pipe

Galvanized seamless pipes (GI seamless pipes) are designed for high-pressure applications due to their weld-free structure. They are commonly used in fluid transport, boilers, and oil & gas pipelines. The zinc coating provides strong, long-lasting resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Typically round in shape, these pipes are usually made from carbon steel, with common grades including ASTM A106 Grade B and ASTM A53 Grade B. End types can be customized—plain, beveled, or threaded—to meet different connection requirements. Zhaojian provides a variety of sizes and customized options to fulfill your specific needs.

More Details

Advantages

Excellent Corrosion Resistance:

The zinc layer isolates the base steel from external corrosive elements, significantly extending service life.

Superior Strength and Mechanical Properties:

The seamless design provides better pressure and impact resistance than welded pipes. Galvanizing does not weaken the pipe; instead, it improves surface hardness.

Efficient Fluid Transport:

Smooth inner walls reduce buildup and blockages, lowering energy consumption.

Long Lifespan & Low Maintenance:

Durable performance with minimal maintenance, offering high cost-effectiveness.

Clean and Aesthetic Appearance:

Neat, uniform finish ideal for exposed or visible installations.

Applications

Construction: Scaffolding, guardrails, handrails, structural components.

Fire Protection Systems: Commonly used for fire water supply pipes.

Agriculture: Greenhouse frames, irrigation.

Oil and Gas: Transportation pipelines, especially for high-pressure or corrosive fluids.

Water Supply: Replaces traditional pipes, resistant to high pressure.

Industrial Applications: Chemical industry (acid and sewage transport), hydraulic cylinders.

Manufacturing Process

To produce a galvanized seamless pipe, four basic steps are required.

Step 1: The heated solid round billet is pierced into a hollow capillary tube by a piercing mill, then rolled and sized by a pipe rolling mill through multiple passes, finally forming the seamless steel tube with the required dimensions.

Step 2: The seamless steel pipe undergoes degreasing, pickling, flushing, and melting treatment to prepare a chemically cleaned surface.

Step 3: The prepared pipe is immersed in molten zinc at approximately 450 °C to create a metallurgical bond with the zinc-iron alloy layer.

Step 4: The pipe is cooled, the coating quality is inspected, and any necessary finishing, such as end treatment, is performed.
