ArcelorMittal is a massive steel corporation with its main office located in Luxembourg. They work in 15 different countries now. It all started when Mittal Steel Company bought Arcelor in 2006.

POSCO‘s main office is in Pohang, South Korea. Number six in the world for steel making. South Korea’s government created them in 1968 because the country needed steel to grow.
The first plant in Pohang broke ground in 1970 and opened in 1973. Japanese money paid for it while Nippon Steel and others helped with the technical stuff.
Now there are two big mills in Pohang and Gwangyang that make about 42 million metric tons of crude steel each year.

Baosteel Group is headquartered in Shanghai, China. One of the world’s biggest steel makers. China Baowu Steel Group Corporation calls them essential.
Started as Shanghai Baoshan General Iron & Steel Works on December 23, 1978, with the first part done in 1985. China thought it was huge back then.
More parts came later with June 1991 for phase two and 2000 for phase three. After all that, only a few steel companies were bigger.

JFE Steel Corporation is based in Tokyo, Japan. Japan’s second-biggest steel maker. Kawasaki Steel and NKK merged in 2003 to make JFE.

1950 was when Kawasaki Heavy Industries let its steel part go, and that became Kawasaki Steel. Built big works at Chiba and Mizushima.

Tata Steel Limited is located in Jamshedpur, India. India’s biggest private steel company. Started August 26, 1907 as Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO).
Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata needed iron, coal, limestone, and water in one spot, so Jamshedpur worked for India’s first integrated steel plant.
1908, they started building and made pig iron in 1911. Real steel came February 16, 1912.
Still working in Jamshedpur today, and by 1939 it was biggest in the British Empire. Grew a lot in the 1950s and became Tata Steel Ltd. in 2005.
